Why four

The woodland holds far more trouble than four contracts can show, and these four climb together. A Film on the Well seats a fighter with Action Surge already in hand, alongside a cleric and wizard still on first spell slots. The Unseen Shooter adds the fighter’s crit on 19, the cleric’s Channel Divinity, and the wizard’s Sculpt Spells. The Rot in the Hollow adds second-level spells and a stronger door. The Source Below is the hardest: Extra Attack, Spirit Guardians, and a CR 5 boss that splits.

None of the four names its monster up front. A contract describes a symptom, the way an actual Guild posting would, and the creature’s name arrives when the party sees it.

How a sitting plays

The board is an authored forest node: trees, old camp furniture, and the party’s own kit all occupy hexes, and the party doesn’t always start bunched together. Gathering before engaging usually beats splitting up to cover more ground.

Every verb is 5.1: Attack (twice, once Extra Attack is earned), Dash, Disengage, Hide, Dodge, Ready, Action Surge, Second Wind, Channel Divinity. The player controls the warrior; the cleric and wizard act on their own. Dice land on a pad beside the minis, hits show on the figures, and the log states what happened in plain sentences.

Where to start

Start with the well — the shortest fight, and the clearest lesson in why cover and positioning matter. Move to the brushline for a lesson in range. Take the hollow for a fight with real stakes: a blight walking toward farmsteads. Finish with the source below for the hardest fight on the site.
